Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts by MGGGF
Thanks to the generous donations of the community, the Mike Green Great Guy Foundation (MGGGF), was able to purchase and distribute almost 500 plastic bins to local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. The Mike Greene Great Guy Foundation was founded in 2007 by friends of Michael J. Greene in his memory. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds and donate those funds to help families and individuals in need in Babylon Village and its surrounding communities.
Mike Greene, a West Babylon Fire Fighter and ex-Captain, was killed in the line of duty in June 2006. Mike was an active member who gave his life as a volunteer who was committed to serving and protecting his community. Mike left behind a wife and four children (ages 14, 12, 10 and 4 at the time of his death). He was deeply involved in all aspects of their lives. He was also a volunteer firefighter who was dedicated to protecting and serving the community. It is because of his devotion to family and community that this Foundation has been created in his memory.
